Designing Energy-Minimizing Rigid Body Motions in the Presence of Obstacles
نویسندگان
چکیده
We present a solution for variational motion design of a rigid body in the presence of rigid obstacles of arbitrary shape that fully employs the available degrees of freedom in the design process. This question remained open in our paper on energyminimizing splines in manifolds (Hofer and Pottmann, 2004). The main idea is to reduce the problem to a curve design task on a suitable barrier surface embedded in an appropriate kinematic image space.

Dissertation Variational Motion Design in the Presence of Obstacles
In this thesis we study the design of energy-minimizing rigid body motions that interpolate given input positions and avoid given fixed obstacles. Our motion design problem is a curve interpolation problem in an appropriate manifold which in the unconstrained case is the group of Euclidean congruence transformations. We introduce a new metric for motion design where the mass distribution of the...
متن کاملStress Analysis of Flight Vehicles under Flight Conditions
A method is presented for the stress analysis of flight vehicles under different flight conditions including gust and control surface deflection (or maneuver) using the governing equations of rigid-body motions and elastic deformations. The Lagrangian approach is used to derive the governing equations of motions. For this purpose, the basic equations of motions are derived in terms of potential...

متن کاملThe Transient Dynamics of a Beam Mounted on Spring Supports and Equipped with the Nonlinear Energy Sink
The transient dynamics of a beam mounted on springer-damper support and equipped with a nonlinear energy sink (NES) is investigated under the effects of shock loads. The equations of motion are derived using the Hamilton’s principle leading to four hybrid ordinary and partial differential equations and descritized using the Galerkin method. An adaptive Newmark method is employed for accurate an...
متن کاملReal-time Planning of Mobile Manipulation in Dynamic Environments of Unknown Changes
This paper presents an approach to plan in realtime trajectories of a mobile manipulator in an environment of dynamic obstacles of unknown motions. It exploits loosecoupling of locomotion and manipulation, taking advantage of the redundancy, to best achieve avoidance of dynamic obstacles and various optimization objectives such as minimizing energy and time, and maximizing manipulability. The a...
